Brock Kannan teaches Banking Law and Regulation and Securities Regulation at Wake Forest University School of Law. His work explores the intersection of financial regulation, emerging technology, enterprise risk management, and public policy, with a particular focus on how legal and regulatory institutions respond to innovation and emerging systemic risks while preserving the safety, resilience, and integrity of the U.S. financial system.

Professor Kannan brings extensive experience from both the public and private sectors to the classroom. His career has spanned senior leadership roles in financial regulation, banking supervision, enterprise risk management, and regulatory policy, where he has advised policymakers, financial institutions, and executive leadership on complex issues involving banking law, risk management, governance, artificial intelligence, and financial stability. His writing and public engagement examine the evolving role of law and regulation in fostering resilient financial markets and effective public institutions.

He earned his Master of Studies in Law from Wake Forest University School of Law, where he received the Dean’s Award for academic excellence. He also holds an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, a Master of Public Affairs from Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy, and a BFA from Brigham Young University.
