Blake D. Morant is Professor Emeritus of Law at The George Washington University Law School, where he served as dean from 2014 to 2019.

A nationally recognized legal scholar, educator, and academic leader, Professor Morant previously served as Dean of Wake Forest University School of Law from 2007 to 2014. During his tenure, the law school expanded experiential learning opportunities, advanced curricular innovation, and strengthened faculty recruitment and fundraising efforts.

A nationally recognized legal scholar, educator, and academic leader, Professor Morant previously served as Dean of Wake Forest University School of Law from 2007 to 2014. During his tenure, the law school expanded experiential learning opportunities, advanced curricular innovation, and strengthened faculty recruitment and fundraising efforts.

His scholarship focuses on contracts, media and First Amendment law, administrative law, and legal education. He has published extensively in these fields and has taught at several leading law schools, including Washington and Lee University School of Law, University of Michigan Law School, University of Alabama School of Law, and Pepperdine Caruso School of Law.

A longtime leader in legal education, Professor Morant served as President of the Association of American Law Schools in 2015 and has held leadership roles within the American Bar Association and other professional organizations. His contributions to legal education have been recognized through numerous honors, including being named the John R. Kramer Outstanding Law Dean by Equal Justice Works and recognition by National Jurist as one of the most influential people in legal education.

Before entering academia, Professor Morant served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, practiced law in Washington, D.C., and worked as Assistant General Counsel for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
